Just as the offseason kicked off in mid February, Durde was hired to become the Seattle Seahawks’ new defensive coordinator, becoming the first British coordinator in NFL history. Durde’s first exposure to the NFL came in 2005 when – as part of the NFL International Development Practice Squad program, an early predecessor to the IPP – he spent some time on the practice squad of the Carolina Panthers. He spent three seasons as part of the Falcons’ defensive coaching staff, working across a number of roles under head coach Dan Quinn. His permanent hiring in 2018 meant Durde became the first British full-time coach in NFL history. Under Durde’s stewardship, Dallas’ defensive line developed into one of the most feared in the league, in particular star linebacker Micah Parsons.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) — Veteran NFL coach Leslie Frazier is expected to join the Seattle Seahawks as an associate head coach, two people with knowledge of the hire told The Associated Press on Friday. The move pairs the youngest head coach in the NFL with Frazier, who has experience as an assistant and head coach in the league. Frazier, 64, spent last season out of the NFL following a stint from 2017-22 when he was the defensive coordinator in Buffalo. Frazier also had one stint as a head coach in Minnesota. Frazier and Macdonald overlapped for one season in Baltimore in 2016 when Frazier was working as the secondary coach and Macdonald was a defensive assistant.

STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) — Saturday night's AFC wild-card playoff game between the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs on Peacock set a record for the most-watched event on a streaming service. According to Nielsen, the Chiefs' 26-7 victory in frigid temperatures averaged 23 million viewers on Peacock, NFL+ and on NBC affiliates in Kansas City and Miami. Last year’s first-round playoff game between the Los Angeles Chargers and Jacksonville Jaguars averaged 20.61 million viewers. Judging by the audience, Saturday's game is unlikely to be the last playoff matchup shown on a streaming service. Under the NFL’s contract, each of its four broadcast partners — NBC, CBS, Fox and ESPN/ABC — gets at least one wild-card game.

NBC drew an all-time record 28.5 million viewers this year during its broadcast of the 97th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, up 6% from last year, Variety reported Friday. Despite the trend, more than two-thirds of the parade audience, about 22.3 million viewers, tuned in via traditional TV, according to Variety. The game captured 41.8 million viewers based on Nielson data, peaking at nearly 44.3 million viewers. Fox's Packers-Lions matchup grabbed 33.7 million viewers per Nielson, the most watched Thanksgiving Day game ever for the 12:30 p.m. The game was also NBC Sports' most-streamed primetime NFL Thanksgiving game ever, with viewership led by its platform Peacock, NBC Sports said Friday.

SEATTLE (AP) — Christian McCaffrey rushed for 114 yards and two touchdowns in the first half, and the San Francisco 49ers built a 21-point lead by halftime in rolling to a 31-13 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night. SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — New York Giants star running back Saquon Barkley says he sustained a high ankle sprain late in the fourth quarter in the comeback win over the Arizona Cardinals. Amazon, which broadcasts the Thursday night games, reported Barkley described his injury as a high ankle sprain. High ankle sprains usually have a longer recovery period than injuries to the lower part of the ankle. CNN —Former NFL running back Alex Collins, who played with the Seattle Seahawks and Baltimore Ravens, died in a motorcycle accident on Sunday night, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Alex Collins this morning,” Collins’ family said in a statement via the Seahawks on Monday night. In his first season with Baltimore in 2017, Collins finished with 973 rushing yards and six touchdowns. Overall, Collins played across five seasons in the NFL, tallying 483 carries for 1,997 yards and 18 touchdowns, with an additional 467 receiving yards in 50 career games. Most recently, Collins played with the United States Football League’s Memphis Showboats this past season.

DirecTV has struck a multiyear deal to continue broadcasting the National Football League's "Sunday Ticket" package to commercial establishments, including bars and restaurants. The NFL sold the "Sunday Ticket" commercial rights to EverPass Media, a joint venture owned by private equity firm RedBird Capital Partners and the NFL, earlier this year. The companies confirmed the "Sunday Ticket" deal on Thursday afternoon. Bars and restaurants, such as Buffalo Wild Wings and Hooters, rely on "Sunday Ticket" to bring in big crowds on Sundays during the NFL season.
